Reducing pollutants

The avoidance of emissions is in the foreground of a process-orientated approach to climate neutrality.
Climate partners assess the individual production steps within the business with regard to CO2 emissions.
The consequently derived methodology, (e.g. modernisation measures), provides a blueprint for the
optimisation of the process and ultimately a more efficient usage of resources. However, the changeover
to completely pollutant free production is currently not possible. Based on transparent accounts, the
remaining CO2 emissions, are neutralised though avoidance of emissions elsewhere. This procedure is
based on the Kyoto protocol of 1997, which states that it is irrelevant where the emissions arise, or
where they are avoided. The compensation through targeted sponsoring of climate protection programmes,
for example in developing or newly industrialising countries, is a recognised mechanism of climate control.
This is not only used by national institutions but also by global organisations (e.g. Fifa, IOC, etc.)
as a chance to engage in climate protection.
